Big Brother Watch previously covered the story of Martin Peaple of Bexley, who was harrassed by the police on the orders of Bexley Council after attempting to warn motorists about CCTV cars operating in the area.
Thankfully, co-conspirators at NoToMob have come to his aid. Big Brother Watch would like to congratulate them on their sterling work in the community.
Thanks BBW for following this up, and thanks to the good folk of Bexley.
After the initial gathering, Mr Peaple joined the riders of the NoToMob on a $chunt ($camera car hunt) around Bexley, and all three cctv cars that were operating on Saturday were found and assisted in their stated duties of enabling traffic flow and ensuring public safety. This activity involves escorting the car to its area of operation and then deploying ourselves to aid with the car's visibility. We simply let motorists know that the car is in the area, thereby discouraging the motorist from parking in potentially dangerous positions.
The NoToMob are pleased to announce that as far as we know, while we were assisting the cars we were entirely successful in helping helping the council follow the Secretary of State's guidelines where it states that the ultimate goal of CCTV enforcement is for "100% compliance, with no penalty charges." In other words, no tickets were issued while we were assisting, thus enabling traffic flow and ensuring the public were kept safe from motorists parking in potentially dangerous positions.
And it appears that for offering our time and resources free of charge, and in the spirit of David Cameron's Big Society, Bexley council want to prosecute us (the public).

Excellent work NoToMob. It is great to see people acting in such a public-spirited manner. I just hope that many more people follow your lead in assisting motorists to avoid the trivial errors for which they are punished so severely and for saving the authorities the cost of having to process all the paperwork involved in collecting fines.

Absolutely fantastic to see decent people square up to and defeat those who deem themselves our masters. This can only serve to inspire others to acknowledge the power within us all to refuse to be bullied and to remind the "authorities" who in actual fact is supposed to be calling the shots.

Well done. Stand up for the common man.

Like Alice in Wonderland, Laura frighteningly finds herself in a time and place far removed from her quiet Cornish village and it is only after a series of extraordinary and dangerous adventures that she thinks she finds herself back home again.
