Over on ConservativeHome, former Big Brother Watch Director Alex Deane has written a must-read article outlining the reasons he will not be completing the 2011 census.
Aside from the arguments the BBW team have made over the last few weeks about the overly invasive aspects the 32-page form, Alex says:
"I have never broken the law before, so forgive me for overthinking it - there are certain parallels that come to mind. Why can't I bring myself to complete and sign this dreadful nonsense, even though there's no real harm that will come to me personally if I do, and the avoidance of potential pain is assured if I do? Because it symbolises all that's wrong with modern Britain, and I don't want to go along with it. Because it is my name. Because I cannot have another in my life"
You can view the full post - which is well worth reading - here.
If you don't want to do the census, but want to have a bit of fun anyway, have a read of the instructions I've written up telling you how to fill in the form.

That post on the link from Charles Barwell was hilarious.....comparing today with the information poor 19th century. I have no objection to giving my name, age (not dob), address and objection just like my great grandfather did, and my ancestors will still know who I was and where I came from in over 100 years time. Hey, they might even be able to engage in time travel.....!

Just had a read of Charles Barwell's site....hmmmm....slight change of opinion on the census it seems now that the Tories are in government...mind you, quite a few changes in government from what was proposed in opposition.

Interesting that those collecting Census forms etc will only have a half day training course - during the recruitment process there is also an online process of up to about 90 minutes. And having unspent convictions show up on a CRB check does not necessary mean that you can't be employed in this role.
